Warblers
Spring male warblers are decked out in spectacular fashion– displaying outwardly to better compete. Size, color and strength are all on display. They struggle to be first at the best sites, travelling long distances through dangerous conditions. When male warblers at last arrive at their destination, they must prove that they are more than just eye candy…fighting off competitors, predators, and interlopers, all the while continuing to mate, hunt, and eventually help rear their young.
For me Warbler photography is a great challenge, I love getting good images of birds and these little Warblers are a great challenge for a variety of reasons which include size, how active they are and the habitats in which they generally live. I like to make road trips to locate different species of Warblers in the hopes of someday having all of the North American species in my collection.
